This is my first post about my trip to India in September, 2013. And my first post on the website. Hi to all who read this and welcome to Spirit Guided Journeys.
Every time I go to India I feel like I am being guided by spirit. I always come away from India having learned something about myself from my experiences. This year, I was there for Ganesh Festival. What a variety of Ganesh statues! I don’t remember seeing as many when my family lived there, but I think our location in Whitefield might have been a bit sheltered from all the activity. On this trip I was in the midst of the action and, while it was noisy and overwhelming at times, I wouldn’t have missed it for anything. I have included pictures of the Ganesh statues and the people celebrating the festival in the streets of Puttaparthi.
Right outside of Sai Baba’ s ashram, Prasanthi Nilayam, there were statues of Ganesh lining the street and throngs of men and boys playing drums and dancing wildly. Everyone was in a great mood. My friends and I happily avoided the brightly colored Holi Powder as it was tossed around. Lot’s of purple and pink all over everyone but us.
I found the festival celebrations to be wonderful but overwhelming. I had to find a measure of peace within myself so that I could appreciate what I was experiencing, the treat of being in such a setting at such a time. Fortunately I was at the Ashram and could take the time I needed at Darshan to center myself and find my peace. And fully enjoy the blessing that is travel and especially travel in India.
